Today at the "zero kilometer" point near the Red Square a transcontinental motor rally started on the route Moscow-Magadan named “The Roads of Russia-2006”. This unique expedition was organized by the automobile magazine “Za Rulem” under the auspices of the Department of Transportation and the Federal Road Agency («Rosavtodor»). JSC “Novaya Perevozochnaya kompaniya” is the official transport partner of the motor rally.
The aim of the expedition is to drive along the federal roads of the European part of Russia, the Urals and Syberia on the Russian produced offroaders. The route runs through Samara, Ufa, Chelyabinsk, Tuymen, Omsk, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude, Chita, Yakutsk, Magadan. Then the cars will be shipped by sea from Magadan to Vladivostok and JSC “Novaya Perevozochnaya kompaniya” will perform their redelivery back to Moscow by the railway. Thus within the framework of this project three transportation modes will be used- by vehicle, railway and sea.
NPR offered an original transportation scheme to the organizers: a car is placed into a container which is in its turn loaded on a gondola car. This represents a kind of “matreshka” which perfectly protects the car on all sides. Today NPK performs deliveries of cars form three Far East cities, namely Vladivostok, Nakhodka and Ussuriysk. In future the company plans to to expand the transportation geography.
